In our crowded, open-concept offices of today, most everyone wears headphones to listen to their personal soundtracks. It drowns out the noise and lets us concentrate.
But sometimes sharing a playlist with colleagues is a great idea. It’s a great way to explore sounds that you’d never have thought of hearing. Everyone gets to contribute, and occasionally, a total gem will grace your ears and lead you to a new artist.
And so it was that we discovered Moses Sumney.
The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter brings a dreamy, calm, and improvisational sound to his music – something that doesn’t quite sound like LA, with it’s plastic pastiche and Hollywood hype. A small town, somewhere between mountains and lakes, feels more fitting for his recordings.
Either way it’s sublime and well worth a listen.
Moses Sumney’s latest release is the sublime Aromanticism.
