On The Streets

A curious thing happens when we walk down the street. On one hand we become hyper-aware of our surroundings. We are on the lookout for bicycle couriers and speeding taxis. But we also let our guard down. We’re unaware of how just how we appear to those around us; our emotions show on our faces, our body language lacks self-consciousness, and we exist in a bubble amidst the madness of a crowded city. Street photography’s beauty is its ability to capture all of these contradictions in their raw, pure essence.

Shot on the streets of New York, from the mid-30s on the West side up to the 60s on the East, capturing the reality of the City during COVID. Everyone wore a mask, yet the ability of people’s eyes to tell a whole story was astounding.
