From The Hip - Street Photography in New York

New York City is back, baby! Every day and in every way, the Big Apple is coming back to life. And that, of course, means more opportunities for capturing dynamic street photography. Camera in hand, I’ve gone to the hot spots, where crowds of people from around the world usually come together. While Rockefeller Center is still way off the pace, places like Times Square and Bryant Park are roaring back to life. This series was shot from the hip; I tried not to intimidate people with a lens to their face, while still capturing their true essence. In some cases they saw the camera – and in many cases this made for great shots. In other cases, I captured them in moments of pure unconscious thought. Was it plans for the weekend? Or did they forget to unplug the iron? No one knows. But the camera got it all.
