Now Hear This

Wasn’t there an awful one-hit-wonder in the early 80s that sang “video killed the radio star”? Who would have guessed that thirty years later, listening without seeing would still be a popular way of consuming information.

And certainly the audio-only industry is being led by podcasts. They are omnipresent, and practically everyone is producing one. And while YouTube channels mark you as a wannabe tween looking for fame, podcasts will make you appear as an intellectual powerhouse.

So as you begin to plan your new channel of mass dissemination, we’ll inspire you with our list of “must-listen” podcasts (or more commonly known as “this is what we listen to, and we are the arbiters of good taste!”)

And share what you are listening to.

Trump Inc.

From WNYC and Pro Publica comes this hard-hitting investigative podcast into the financial dealings of US President Donald J Trump and his closest allies and relatives. How does his business work? Are he and his family really keeping their promise to separate the Trump Organization from Trump White House.

Last Podcast On The Left

If you are into the darker side of life, then Last Podcast on the Left is your cup of tea – or arsenic, if you prefer. Ben Kissel, Marcus Parks and Henry Zebrowski cover the oddest subjects from death cults like Jonestown to haunted houses and werewolves. All done with a laugh.

Armchair Expert

Once you’ve had enough of politics and horror, you can relax with a dose of just plain old-fashioned chat. Dax Shepard brings his wry humour to his interactions with people – celebrities, friends, and pretty much anyone who will talk to him.

Unspooled

If you are a fan of all things cinema, film, or movies, then Unspooled is the podcast for you. Reviewing and discussing the films on the AFI Top 100 list, Paul Scheer and Amy Nicholson bring a level of insight and exploration to make any cinephile jealous. They pick apart the best scenes, backstories, and legends, and manage to do it in a captivating way, considering that we are listening, not watching.
